Tour overview
This birding safari will give you a chance to explore Rwanda and view lots of bird species. You will also visitAkagera national park which has got over 300 bird species and more. The total number of bird species in Rwanda are 650 out of which 44 species are only in Rwanda. Some of the species of birds include; the shoebill stork, the purple breasted sun bird, the Rockefeller’s sunbird, the Little Bee Eater, Collared Apalis, and the Red faced barbet. These are some of the bird species that are found in Akagera national park, Nyungwe national park and Volcanoes National park. In Nyungwe national park, you will see some Albertine Rift Endemics, and some include; the Kungwe Aalis, Red Collared Babbler, shelley’s Crimson wing and the Albertine Owlet. Within Akagera national park, you will also look for the shoebill and many other bird species in the papyrus marshes and the woodlands.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali international Airport
Upon your arrival at the airport, you will start birding in Rwanda since Rwanda birds are also among the most welcoming species around the place. Then you will retire at the lodge or at the hotel. Get time to see some species along the way.
Dinner and Overnight at Okapi Hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera national park
Have breakfast and after transfer to Akagera national park and on your arrival, you will have on a birding adventure in the savannah area where you will have the best panoramic views that overlooks the River Akagera.
Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge
Day 3: birding in Akagera National Park
Have breakfast and then start bird watching for the whole day. During lunch hours, you will also enjoy lunch and then go back to the lodge to relax. The diverse species also include; Bennett;s woodpecker, the long toed lapwing, the headed black chat, the swamp flycatcher, Tabora Cisticola white winged Warbler, the white black collared Barbet and the Miombo Wren Warbler. There are also many other species found in the park.
Day 4: Departure
Have breakfast, and then start your journey back to the airport to catch your departure flight.
