The Akanyaru Wetland Birding

This wetland is located in the south of Rwanda along the border of Burundi and north east of Butare, it’s also close to Rwihinda lake nature reserve of Burundi. Its vegetation also consists of many of the marshy habitants as well as papyrus swamps. This wetland is also filled with the floating vegetation and has areas of papyrus as combined or pure stands with the shrubby vegetation. This wetland has also got 54 species and some include; the madagscar squacco heron, the papyrus Gonolex, the lesser swamp, pallid harrier and lesser kestrel. The wetland has also got three of the afro tropical highlands including the Guinea Congo forest Biome and 11 species of Lake Victoria basin biome.
